It is owned by Cameco Corporation and has been in operation since 1999. The mine has Nicholite orebody, containing an estimated reserve of 190 million pounds. 2) Rössing Mine in Namibia: This open-pit uranium mine owned and operated by Rio Tinto Group is located in Namibia and comes second in the list of top producing uranium mines in the world. It has an estimated reserve of 182 million pounds. 3) Domestic Uranium Mines in Kazakhstan: Kazakhstan being a nuclear-armed country is also among the leading uranium producers in the world. Currently, there are nine known active uranium mines in the country that accounts for 15% of the world’s production. 4) Chocolate Mountain Aerial Gunnery Range in the USA: Located in California, USA, this Uranium mine is owned by the US Navy and the US Department of Energy. It is collectively the fourth largest uranium producing mine in the world with an estimated reserve of 54 million pounds. 5) South Inkai in Kazakhstan: Operated by KazAtomProm, South Inkai is an open-pit uranium mine located in Kazakhstan. It accounts for around 3.06% of the total uranium production in the world. 6) Husab Mine in Namibia: Owned by Chinese firm CGNPC Uranium Resources, the Husab Mine is located in Namibia and is the world’s sixth-largest uranium mine. It has a total estimated reserve of 109 million pounds. 7) Cigar Lake in Canada: This underground uranium mine is owned by Cameco Corporation and is located in Saskatchewan, Canada. It is the world’s seventh-largest uranium producer and accounts for around 8.3% of the global production. 8) Uranium City Mine in Canada: Located in Saskatchewan, this open-pit uranium mine is owned and operated by Strata Energy Inc. It has an estimated reserve of 33 million pounds and is the eighth-largest uranium producing mine in the world. 9) Honeymoon Mine in Australia: This underground uranium mine is located in South Australia and is owned by Heathgate Resources. It has an estimated reserve of 33 million pounds and is the ninth-largest uranium producing mine in the world. 10) Orano Mines in Niger: This mining complex is owned by Orano, a French nuclear energy company and is located in Arlit, Niger. It is the tenth-largest uranium producing mine in the world and has an estimated reserve of 23 million pounds. Therefore, these are the top ten uranium mines in the world that are updated for 2023.
