“T-Mobile: Privileged with Phone Trade, Disgraced by Employee Crime!
T-Mobile has recently been sued for negligence in an odd incident where an employee allegedly stole nude images from a customer’s phone. The event, which took place in 2018 in Racine, Wisconsin, shows the egregious nature of T-Mobile’s actions, or lack thereof. The woman, who is remaining anonymous, was attempting to upgrade her phone by trading it in for a newer model. During the trade-in process, the employee allegedly transferred the customer’s personal pictures to his own personal phone without her permission. The woman then noticed inactivity on her iCloud account which caused her to become suspicious. Upon further investigation, she discovered that her photos had been transferred to the employee’s phone, culminating in a lawsuit filed against T-Mobile. It seems that the company did not have any sort of precautionary measures in place to ensure that such a disastrous incident did not occur. Although a singular incident cannot be used to judge the entirety of a company’s practices, this experience certainly ripped away the customer’s trust in T-Mobile and their employees. T-Mobile has yet to comment on the incident, however, many customers are concerned. It is clear that privacy violations of this magnitude will not be tolerated by customers. Business organizations need to make sure that all of their employees are aware of the policies in place for customer data and take precautions to ensure that no employee can access customer data without permission. The woman who was wronged is looking for acknowledgment and justice from T-Mobile by seeking maximum compensatory and punitive damages for the humiliation she suffered. It is unclear what the results of the case will be, but one thing is certain: the company needs to make sure that something like this never happens again if they hope to remain trustworthy with their customers.
