“Honda Alert: Over 300,000 Accords and HR-Vs Need Automotive Attention!
Honda recently announced a major recall of just under 304,000 Accord and HR-V models due to a potential seat belt defect. The affected vehicles were built between 2013 and 2016, and the issue affects the driver-side seat belt buckles. Honda indicated that the defect could cause the buckle to unlatch if the seat belt is moved with force. In the event of an accident, this could cause the driver to be unrestrained. This poses a serious risk to both the driver and other occupants. To address this issue, Honda will be replacing the driver-side seat belt buckle free of charge. The automaker is urging owners of the affected models to have their vehicles serviced as soon as possible. Honda is also offering to reimburse owners who have already paid for repairs relating to the seat belt defect. Owners can contact Honda at 1-800-999-1099 to inquire about reimbursement. In the U.S., the recall affects over 229,000 vehicles, including 2013–2016 Accord models and 2015–2016 HR-V models. Owners of the affected vehicles may check for recalls by entering their 17-digit Vehicle Identification Number on the NHTSA website. Honda’s recall is an important reminder of the importance of getting vehicles serviced according to the manufacturer’s recommended schedule. Any necessary repairs should be completed in a timely manner to ensure your vehicle remains safe to drive.
