“Peru’s Esperanza Gets the Green Light: Forte Minerals’ Cu-Mo Project Approved!
Forte Minerals has recently received approval for an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) in relation to its Esperanza Porphyry Cu-Mo Project in southern Peru. This approval is a huge boost to the company’s expansion plans and promises to bring much-needed jobs and investment into the region. The Esperanza Porphyry Cu-Mo Project is one of the largest mining projects in Peru, covering a total area of approximately 1,800 ha. It is expected to produce copper and molybdenum concentrates within a period of five years, culminating in an average annual production of 200,000 tonnes of ore. Forte has already taken extensive steps to ensure that the project is as environmentally friendly as possible. This has included an eight-month public consultation process, which received feedback from all stakeholders, including local indigenous communities. As a result, the project has been designed with measures to ensure minimal impact on the surrounding environment. The approval of the EIS is thus a significant milestone for Forte Minerals. It will serve as a platform for the company to make a positive impact on the people of southern Peru, creating jobs and much-needed investment. The news of the EIS approval also brings welcome relief to the struggling mining industry in Peru, which has been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. This approval showcases the resilience of the industry and its potential for future growth. Forte Minerals is confident that the project will ultimately benefit both the company and the region. Looking forward, the company intends to build on the success of the project by tailoring its operations to maximize environmental protection and deliver ongoing economic growth.
