Honda recently announced on its website that it will be recalling more than 2.5 million cars in the US over a potential fuel pump issue. The affected vehicles are various Accord, Civic, Odyssey and Pilot models manufactured between 2013 and 2016.
The automaker stated that the affected fuel pumps can fail, leading to engine stalling and difficulty restarting the vehicle. To prevent any safety risks, the company is replacing the fuel pumps with new parts at no additional charge to the customer.
Customers affected by the recall can check if their vehicle is affected by the recall by visiting Honda’s website. The automaker will also be sending out formal notifications to those who own recalled vehicles by mail.
The recall is the third largest involving Honda in the last decade. In 2019, the company recalled over 3 million vehicles for software issues. In 2010, over 4 million cars and SUVs were called back due to faulty ignition switches.
Honda motivated the recall to ensure customer safety and to avoid possible legal action. The company has already stated that it will cover all costs associated with this recall as well as reimburse customers who have already paid for repairs caused by the faulty pumps.
Honda is committed to the safety of its customers and it has recommended owners affected by the fuel pump recall to make an appointment with their local dealership as soon as possible. Customers can also contact any Honda approved service provider for further information.
