“Biden Demands Trump Accountability – Jan. 6 Speech Sets the Stage
Joe Biden is taking his campaign’s focus directly to President Donald Trump in the lead-up to the inauguration. In a speech to senior staff on Jan. 6, Biden outlined a sharp contrast between himself and the outgoing president in terms of foreign policy, economic recovery, racial justice and a host of other issues that have been dividing the nation for the last four years. The speech, given from Biden’s office in Wilmington, Delaware, marks the start of an aggressive campaign strategy to point out President Trump’s failings since taking office in 2017. Biden used the speech to call out the Trump administration’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic and their refusal to implement a robust economic recovery plan. The former vice-president also criticized Trump’s isolationist policies and failure to honor America’s commitments to our allies. On the subject of racial justice, Biden took the opportunity to point out Trump’s failure to embrace the Black Lives Matter movement, as well as his refusal to address systemic racism in the United States. Moreover, Biden warned of a “Constitutional crisis” if the president and his allies continue to attempt to undermine the foundations of democracy. The Biden campaign plans to keep up their aggressive stance on the president’s disastrous tenure, and his upcoming speech at the White House will just be the first of many. Biden’s words were not just a shot across the bow, but a warning that he will be ready to point out the shortcomings of the Trump administration even after he’s sworn in on Jan. 20. Joe Biden is determined to make sure that the deficits of the Trump era are not forgotten.
